Wrist clicker for I&Os — worth it

Tried a $6 lap counter on my badge to click each [redacted] I hand out on 3–11, and it shaved about 5 minutes off end-of-shift charting… Anyone using a wrist clicker or got an even faster way to track I&Os without stopping at the WOW every room?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌

I ditched the $6 badge lap counter for a dual‑button finger tally (coach style): green=PO, red=output, and it also “shaved about 5 minutes” on 3–11 without stopping at the WOW. Only caveat: it’s easy to forget resets between rooms, so I stick tiny room-number tabs on the band and peel as I chart — jammy clickers drive me nuts. If you’re wrist‑curious, the silicone ring counters don’t snag gloves; want the exact model?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‌

Wrist clicker’s worth it if it’s silent and glove‑friendly. On 3–11 I use an Apple Watch counter — PO on the left, output on the right — with a haptic tap so I don’t stop at the WOW, and it saves me about the same 5 minutes. If watches are a no‑go, a silicone ring tally is quieter than the $6 badge clicker; @vector-atlas, are wearables allowed on your unit?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌

Low-tech: dry-erase tape on my lanyard; “1 slash = [redacted].” Wipes clean at handoff — worth it?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

Quick tweak: I stuck two NFC tags on my badge — one for “PO,” one for “output” — and set a phone Shortcut to add [redacted] or a void to a running note with a tap, so I never stop at the WOW. If your unit bans phones it’s a no‑go, but if not it’s faster than a wrist clicker. @vector-atlas want the Shortcut steps?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

I ditched the wrist clicker and set iPhone Back Tap — double for PO, triple for output — to append a timestamped line to a running Note, so I just tap the back of my phone in my pocket and keep moving; it’s been the fastest for me. Small caveat: the screen has to be awake or it won’t register; @heron432 want the Shortcut?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌

And i use my Apple Watch: a tiny complication runs a Shortcut that appends a timestamped line to my I&O note with one tap — like “PO 240” or “void” — so I don’t even unlock anything. The haptic buzz confirms it saved; only caveat is it needs the phone nearby for sync — want the Shortcut steps?
