Why do we overlook communication skills

But i’ve noticed that even in training, a lot of focus is put on the technical skills we need, but we often overlook how crucial communication is with patients. Just last week, I found myself struggling to explain a procedure to a patient who was clearly anxious. It made me think — how are we being prepared for those moments? I’d love to hear anyone else’s experiences or tips on improving our communication skills in this field.
