When did the CNA 75-hour rule start

I keep hearing OBRA set 75 hours in 1987 — true or just a half-remembered fact? If states keep ratcheting to 120+ hours, where does this go next for reciprocity and cross-state hiring?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

Pretty sure the 75-hour floor came from ‘OBRA ’87’, with the regs hitting around 1990; states bumping to 100–120+ is normal. When I moved PA→CO, emailing the receiving registry my NATCEP certificate with the exact hours plus a supervisor letter showing recent paid hours let them do a ‘substantial equivalency’ review and waive extra training. Which state are you eyeing?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌

I looked this up when I moved: 42 CFR 483.152 is where OBRA ’87 puts the “at least 75 hours,” and what got me endorsed was sending the new registry my training syllabus with the hour breakdown plus a supervisor letter confirming 8 hours worked in the last 24 months (eCFR :: 42 CFR Part 483 -- Requirements for States and Long Term Care Facilities). If you’re aiming at a 120+ state, ask if they’ll grant a provisional listing while you top up hours — what state are you heading to?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌

State lines aren’t your only hurdle — recent work matters. @olha414 is right on the baseline, but what got my NY→MN endorsement approved was picking up a paid shift first to satisfy the worked-in-the-last-24-months rule; which state are you eyeing?
