Vitals on rounds vs scheduled time blocks

I started taking the Dynamap on every pass and grabbing vitals when I’m already in the room for I&O or quick linen fixes instead of waiting for the 0600 batch. Timed on my Apple Watch lap button, my average per-patient vitals cycle dropped from 6 minutes 10 seconds to 4 minutes 25 seconds over the last two weeks on days. I broke a small ‘rule’ by shifting off the strict block, but only inside our 30-minute vitals window, only on stable patients, cleared with the nurse, sanitized between rooms, and I chart the actual timestamp. This cut backtracking and makes call-light detours less painful because I’m already carrying the cuff and pulse ox. Curious if 4:25 per patient, including cleaning the cuff, room entry, and tapping the chart time, is high or low versus your normal. Cart stays parked in the hall.

I’d go rolling vitals when I’m already in the room. Seeing more of this lately, and it cuts steps and wake-ups. I’ve been a ±30 min window for Q4/Q8, chart in real time, and still hit fixed times for med-related or first-set checks. If the unit wants a full 0500–0600 set for labs/rounds. I do one sweep, then back to rolling.

Stopped saving for 0600; Apple Watch laps + I&O pass shaved about 90s/patient :+1:.
