I’ve been thinking about switching my career to become a CNA and would love any insights from those who’ve made the leap. What challenges did you face initially, and how did you overcome them? I’m particularly anxious about the hands-on aspect.
Jumping into hands-on care can be pretty daunting, but one thing that helped me was to first volunteer at a local nursing facility. It gives you a feel for the environment and helps build your confidence without the pressure of being in a paid role right away. Have you considered volunteering to get a taste of it?
I totally get the nerves about the hands-on stuff; it’s like jumping into a pool without checking the temperature first! Maybe start by shadowing a CNA for a day to see how they handle things. It could give you a better idea of what to expect and make you feel more comfortable.
