Starting CNA on weekend nights

Is jumping into CNA at 35 with only weekend nights a bad move? I shadowed a 7p–7a at a long-term care place in El Paso last Thursday and it felt like balancing a tray through a crowded hallway — doable if I find the rhythm; if you started on nights, how did you pace yourself without burning out?

I started nights at 34 on 7p–7a weekends too — totally doable. > and it felt like balancing a tray through a crowded hallway — doable if Agree — what saved me was a hard 3 a.m. caffeine cutoff and scheduled 10‑minute sit‑sip‑chart micro‑breaks each hour until midnight, then quieter rounds so the 5 a.m. slump didn’t steamroll me. Small caveat: protect an anchor sleep block 9–1 after shift (, kills brunch), and if your LTC allows it, grab a 10–15 min power nap around 4 — does your El Paso place give you that window?

Not a bad move at 35, especially on 7p-7a weekends in LTC; that ‘balancing a tray through a crowded hallway’ feeling eases if you set a strict 2-hour rounding/skin check loop and chart at the bedside so 5 a.m. doesn’t steamroll you () — anchor sleep both nights around 2–8 a.m. and use a short split nap Monday to flip back; if that still wrecks you, CDC’s night-shift tips help: https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/workschedules/default.html. @OP, are you planning to flip fully back to days after El Paso weekends or keep a partial night schedule?
