I swapped back to a $1.99 spiral notebook last Monday after a few of you posted about app fatigue, and it’s somehow the first system that’s survived more than 7 days. For those doing similar, how are you handling carry-over tasks without turning pages into chaos?
In my $1.99 spiral I do Bullet Journal lite: end of day I mark unfinished with ‘→’, rewrite only those on tomorrow’s page, then slash the original line so the old page stays readable (https://bulletjournal.com)… If something rolls 3+ days, I star it and shrink the next action so it finally moves.
I piggyback on @wing_studio24 but add a two-dot rule: each day a task rolls, I add a dot; at two dots it must move to a back-page “parking lot” or onto the calendar with a real date. That keeps today’s page clean and the carry-overs corralled — if it needs a third dot, it owes me rent — would a back-of-notebook parking lot plus the two-dot limit keep your pages from snowballing?
Thread tasks by numbering pages: when a ‘carry-over task’ survives the day, I write ‘p42’ beside it, then on p42 I copy just the next micro-step and note ‘from p37’ so the chain stays traceable… A quick Friday sweep resets anything that’s been open since last Monday. @wing_studio24’s approach pairs fine with this if you want a daily cap.
