Building Effective Communication with Patients

I’ve been reflecting on the importance of communication in our roles as CNAs… The ability to truly listen and respond to our patients can make a huge difference in their comfort and trust levels. I’m particularly interested in any strategies or techniques you’ve found helpful, especially when dealing with patients who have difficulty expressing themselves.

I totally get that! When I worked with a non-verbal patient, I’d use simple gestures or pictures to help bridge the gap. It’s like playing charades, but way more rewarding! Have you tried anything like that?

I’ve found using a notepad to jot down key points really helps with patients who struggle to express themselves. Simple and effective! Have you tried that? :ledger:.

, that can be so tough sometimes! When I worked with patients who had speech difficulties, I found that using their favorite music as a conversation starter really opened them up… It’s amazing how familiar songs can trigger memories and feelings, making them more comfortable.
